Laboratorios Borinquen was founded in the city of Caguas in September 1970. They opened their doors with one technologist, one nurse, and one secretary. Despite the economic difficulties they faced in their early years, from the original group of 13 physicians only the following shareholders remained: Dr. Robert N. Whitlock (RIP), Dr. Ricardo Mulero, Dr. Guillermo Pierluisi (RIP), and Dr. Félix Rivera Bernard (RIP). These individuals led Laboratorios Borinquen to a position of great prestige within the medical community.
Laboratorios Borinquen emerged from the initiative of a group of physicians concerned with obtaining high-quality laboratory results that would provide reliable outcomes within a reasonable timeframe for both patients and the medical community.
Laboratorios Borinquen constantly offers employment opportunities in various areas such as nursing, medical technology, and customer service with medical plan billing, among others.

We offer specialized tests such as tumor markers, alpha-fetoprotein panel, hormones, lupus anticoagulant, herpes, cytomegalovirus, homocysteine, cardiac CRP, tests to detect autoimmune thyroid conditions, hepatitis, HIV, electrophoresis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, Vitamin D3 (25-hydroxy), quantitative thyroglobulin, leptospirosis, Influenza A and B, Mycoplasma, QuantiFERON, among others.
